Q: How much will it cost?

A: Costs depend on style details, fabric and decoration. Generally, my prices compare very favourably with off - the - peg dresses and, of course, you get the dress(es) you want and there are no hidden extras like alteration costs. You will be sent a written quote after a consultation and that is the price you will pay for the work agreed.

Q: How long does it take to make a dress?

A: I recommend coming for a consultation as early as possible so that you have your date 'booked'. Some dates can be booked up to 18 months in advance, others just a few weeks.

As I do all the work myself, there is a limit to how many commissions I can take on. Having said that, it is always worth an 'ask' for short notice work especially in the quieter months.

The actual time taken to do the fittings and make the dress can vary widely and I always try to fit in to your timetable where possible.

Q: What is involved in a consultation?

A: You need to have some idea of what features you want in your dress or dresses. For example, if you want sleeves or not, what length you prefer, what style of skirt you want etc. It is always useful to bring along pictures, sketches etc.

I will advise on suitability of styles and fabrics but the final decisions will be yours. If you have a number of bridesmaids, I would recommend getting some agreement on general style from all of them before the consultation.

You will not have to decide whether you want to go ahead with the work until you receive my quote in the post. I usually allow about 2 weeks for you to reply. If you need longer to decide, you must let me know otherwise I may book in someone else on your date.

Q: Why should I have my dress(es) made for me?

A: There are many advantages to designing your own made - to - measure wedding wear.

As well as getting the styles and colours you really want, everyone feels at ease because their garments fit properly no matter what their size or build.

And the men aren't left out. Ties and waistcoats can be made to coordinate perfectly with the ladies outfits.

I also offer a dressing service to my brides to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible on the wedding day.
